Procurement Manager Chemicals

Job Description

A reputable Industrial company is currently recruiting Procurement ManagerSpecialty Chemicals

Job purpose:
The employee filling this position must:
1. Achieve cost leadership by ensuring that all raw materials are bought/procured efficiently (best product, best price).
2. Minimize and mitigate the Company’s supply risk.
3. Work closely with other relevant departments within the business unit to ensure smooth material availability at all times.

To fulfill these outcomes, the employee will negotiate with current and potential suppliers and will always be up-to-date with the relevant market trends and will translate the impact thereof to all interested and affected parties, offering acceptable remedies.

Main areas of work:
People Management
1. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with external suppliers. Contact suppliers at least once a month to establish and/or inform any remedial actions that need to be taken by either party.
2. Work closely with the Operations Managers and Buyers and meet with them at least once a month for accurate and up-to-date Material Requirement Planning, forecasting, and qualify and quantify issues with suppliers, process, delivery, quality then apply immediate remedial actions.

Procurement
3. Achieve at all times 100% purchases below the market index per the available and subscribed market information/intelligence
4. Achieve 100% on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery from suppliers, and limiting inventory to the stock levels agreed with the relevant Operations Managers per business unit.
5. Run professional tender processes that meet all agreed outcomes
Risk Management
6. Maintain and consistently apply legally defendable Supply Chain Agreements.
7. Introduce alternative suppliers/products that augments/replaces existing raw materials and obtain a measurable improvement on cost/quality availability and/or mitigate risk.
8. Maintain a minimum of 3 suppliers per raw material input that originates from the Euro and the USD zones.
Research & forecast 9. Research and forecast markets every day.
10. Propose and apply agreed remedies to mitigate the market risks to BIG and to capitalize on opportunities in time.
Reporting 11. Construct monthly reports on:
11.1. The findings, decisions made and resulting action plans of the meetings held with internal customers (Operations Managers and Buyers) as well as external suppliers.
11.2. Market trends and recommendations
11.3. Price movement and availability issues
11.4. Performance against market indices
11.5. Performance against OTIF delivery

Skills

Minimum entry requirements:
A. Level of education
Bachelor’s Degree

Certification in CIPS, CPP or CSCP is preferred.

An MBA qualification from an accredited and reputable institution is advantageous.

B. Level of experienceFluency required in reading, writing and speaking English.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position.

Job requirements
Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
Communication skills: Effective interpersonal and customer service skills at different levels within the organization and with suppliers external to the organization, always maintaining a professional image and being culturally sensitive.
Negotiating skills: Above average ability to negotiate contracts with external suppliers whilst simultaneously developing suppliers and forging long-term relationships
Analytical skills: Ability to compare, contrast and interpret data and having a keen attention to detail.
Planning and organizing skills: Ability to efficiently and effectively plan and monitor tasks in a very organized and predictive manner.
Leadership skills: Ability to foster teamwork and drive results among colleagues at different levels of the organization.
Self-starter: Ability to further design the delivery parameters of the position, to construct a well-run procurement function and to then redesign and deliver further parameters to the position that elevates its delivery.
